課程概述 |
This course aims to help graduate students master the fundamentals of English writing for academic purposes. Since writing is, in simple terms, the behavior of persuading others by presenting ideas, for each week's lesson, this course consists of two hours of lecture plus one hour of grammar practice and discussion. Topics which are to be covered include essential vocabulary in academic English, basic English sentence structures, and common rhetorical patterns for English paragraph/essay development.
Please note that this lesson will be taught mainly in Chinese language. |
課程目標 |
By the end of the course, students will
1.understand common rhetoric modes in English writing.
2.apply their knowledge of English grammar for academic writing purposes.
3.demonstrate familiarities with vocabulary frequently used in academic discourse.
4.identify and edit their own sentence problems. |
課程要求 |
1.Students are required to attend all classes. NO MORE THAN THREE excused absences are permitted. <第一堂課未到視同放棄>
2.Active participation in class discussions is required.
3.Quizzes and a comprehensive final exam are included in this course. NO make-up quizzes/exam will be allowed.
4.Writing assignments are carefully scheduled as stages toward the fulfillment of the course’s objectives. Late assignments will not be accepted.
5. Students are expected to preview and review the course content each week.
6. 本課程中文授課,使用英文教科書。不宜與「學術英文寫作與發表」同時修習。 |
